Everybody Dreams: a song for Tottenham

July 14th, 2012

Tottenham has had a hard time coming back from the riots that broke out last summer. it doesn’t seem to matter that the area is perfectly harmonious and friendly 99% of the time (I myself live in part of South Tottenham on the loveliest and most neighbourly streets I’ve known anywhere in London, so I have extensive personal experience!): it’s the headlines that people remember, and that misconception hurts a lot of people.

Fortunately, a group of schoolchildren from Gladesmore Community School have taken matters into their own hands and created something truly inspiring to help life the spirits of those in the area and present a more positive image of Tottenham to those outside. the children, who felt concerned by the negative and undeserved image of the area they are growing up in, have written and performed Everybody Dreams; their ‘song for Tottenham’ which they now hope to bring to the UK charts.

A host of celebs and public figures have already got behind the students’ musical dream, with endorsements from the likes of Jessie J, DJ Chris Moyles, Tinie Tempah and others. more recently, it attracted the attention of Mayor Boris Johnson who recently visited the school to show his support, MP for Tottenham David Lammy, Tottenham Hotspur FC and many more organisations and individuals. Check out the video below to find out a bit more about the evolution of the song.

The song is infectious and very touching – you can get a taster of it in the video below. It’s scheduled for release on 19th August when it will be available for download, but until then why not get behind the campaign by liking them on Facebook and following them on Twitter?
