The prospect of a new addition to the family is making Coronation Street’s Charlie Condou dream of some pampering time on set, it seems.

The star who plays gay hospital worker Marcus Dent, shares daddy duties with his real-life boyfriend, to the two-year-old daughter he has with his best female friend.

And as they are expecting their second child in January, Charlie knows he’s going to have his work cut out for him, juggling work and fatherhood.

“It’s brilliant being a dad,” he says, “but it makes you realise how hard it is to work and be a parent.”

The Diary caught up with him and his co-star and friend, Samia Smith, at the opening of Spa 303 at the Hilton Hotel, pictured here alongside hunky male model Kai Lawson.

“It would be great if Corrie had a spa in the Green Room so we can get massages while we’re waiting to film!” he joked.

Other stars at the opening bash on Deansgate included their fellow Corrie colleague Alison King, Hollyoaks star Sarah Jayne Dunn and ex-Big Brother contestant Stuart Pilkington.

The VIPs got a taste of the chic spa’s neck and shoulder massages as well as some reflexology on their feet.

Although Charlie insists he’s not about to try out their P-Jazzle – the male equivalent of a Vajazzle – where crystals are applied to the most intimate of areas, made popular by the only way Is Essex TV series.

“Not a chance.” laughed Charlie. “I don’t want any crystals where they shouldn’t be going!”

Samia, who plays hairdresser Maria Connor, reckons the reflexology will help her balance out her life.

“I’ve just signed up for another year, which is exciting. I thing there’s going to be lots of drama for her,” she says, before adding cryptically, “you’ll have watch out for her love life…”
