Amy was close to getting a spot on the panel of Britain’s Got Talent

The former The only way is Essex star said that she would have been passing judgement on Britain’s Got Talent contestants… but only if Carmen Electra hadn’t turned up.

The red-haired beauty was lined up by the show as an understudy judge for American glamour model Electra, but unfortunately for Childs, the buxom brunette made it to each show she was scheduled to appear on.

Speaking at the launch of her new swimwear range, Amy said: ‘They asked me to be the understudy for Carmen Electra on the main show of X Factor. If she didn’t turn up I would have been on there, which is amazing’.

The reality TV star added that she would love a stint on the ITV1 show, and that she would definitely give Simon Cowell a run for his money.

‘I’d be so honest. That’s just me, do you know what I mean?’ she said, ‘I could be the next Simon. who wouldn’t want to be an X Factor judge? I’d rather do Britain’s Got Talent, though, because I like singing’.

Childs seems to be looking for her next TV gig since her Channel 5 show It’s all About Amy was axed earlier this year, and she has admitted to wanting a regular role on her ‘favourite show’ Loose Women.
