Amy Childs ditches Katie Price fixation to become Victoria Beckham wannabe

August 22nd, 2011

When TOWIE hit TV screens she famously confessed to wanting to be like glamour model Price, who she described as her ‘idol’.

But with Amy’s departure from the show, her summer stint at presenting her own fashion segment on This Morning and rumours she’s joining the Celebrity big Brother house when it launches next week, it seems she’s changed her style muse.

Now, fashion designer and all-round classy lady Victoria Beckham looks to be her inspiration instead.

Amy has always been a fan of the 37-year-old, previously admitting she’d love the former Spice Girl to cameo in TOWIE: ‘My biggest dream cameo would be fellow Essex girl Victoria Beckham. I’d love to vajazzle her.’

But on Wednesday it became clear her style had shifted.

Arriving at the ITV studios, Amy was dressed in a gorgeous figure-hugging red dress with peplum detail at the hip and the dress had a clear sense of déjà vu.

In fact, Victoria wore a practically identical version of this dress back in 2009. But while Posh’s number was from her VB collection, Amy’s uncannily similar one was not.

Not only was the dress of similar standing to Mrs Beckham’s, Amy also had the over-sized shades – a Victoria must-have – to go with her outfit and she worked an authoritative pose as she stood with her hand on her hips outside the studios.

She certainly seems to be oozing a more classy look since announcing her decision to leave TOWIE, and now it seems she’s well and truly moved past her Jordan stage and is looking for the finer things in life.

Amy needn’t worry about her status after leaving the reality soap drama either as she is one of the hot favourites to enter the CBB house next week.

As if enough changes hadn’t been made to her former lifestyle already though, in keeping with her mission to raise her game, Amy also dumped her boyfriend Joe Hurlock last month – admitting she was after someone more famous who would understand her lifestyle better.

‘When I started getting busier, our relationship started getting harder,’ she revealed.

‘It’s so hard to have a relationship in the public eye. he just didn’t like me being linked to every celebrity out there.’

But despite leaving the show that made her famous, it’s apparent Amy can’t quite cut the ties. She is rumoured to have asked CBB bosses if she can take a vajazzling kit – synonymous with the Essex-based show and her livelihood as a beautician – into the house as a home comfort.

Meanwhile, Amy has suffered criticism for quitting TOWIE as her co-star James ‘Arg’ Argent spoke out saying they don’t need her in the show.

He said: ‘In series two she was only in it now and then and series two was just as big as series one, if not bigger.

‘Obviously Amy will be missed but I think from how series two was received it proves the show is more than capable of carrying on without her.’

And he added that she is too much of a Jordan wannabe to fit into the show.

‘I think Amy aspires to be someone like a Kerry Katona or a Jordan whereas the other cast members like myself and Lydia Bright have different aspirations,’ he sniped.

It seems she may already be outgrowing her former co-stars on the ITV2 show as last night she went out in Essex to celebrate TOWIE star Joey Essex’s 21st birthday but looking incredibly awkward during the night and went home alone.
